Panelists will explore perspectives on freedom of expression and how power and privilege influence who truly has access to this freedom. The discussion will explore the unspoken but pervasive rules about what constitutes freedom of speech and who determines when an expression of opinion infringes on another’s freedom. We’ll look at how this access often differs for marginalized groups and how this impacts the Ryerson campus. Our Panellist: Dr. Winnie Ng - Sam Gindin Chair in Social Justice and Democracy; Dr. Anver Saloojee - Advisor to the President and the Provost and Vice President Academic; Heather Kere Quelleng - Social Worker and Ryerson Alumni; Dr. Camille Hernandez-Ramdwar - Professor, Department of Sociology; Dr. James Turk - Distinguished Visiting Professor & Director of the Centre for Free Expression
