Global White Supremacy: Past, Present, Future

[Introduced by] Charles Falzone (Dean of FCAD); [Keynote Speaker] Dr. Adrien K. Wing
Thursday, May 10, 2018, 1:39 PM

White privilege transcends national boundaries and has occurred over many centuries. Using a critical race theory approach, the presentation will examine the phenomena from the time of colonization and slavery to the present era of neocolonialism and imperialism. It will especially emphasize women of color around the world who face an intersectional reality where their various identities, including race, gender, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation, cause them to face precarious conditions both literally and figuratively. A future involving a coalitional approach with both governmental and civil society commitments is necessary to transcend the past and present legacies of suppression and privileging.
